Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, opened the show home at Russell Armer Homes’ Cragg Close development in Kendal at 1pm yesterday (Tuesday, July 29).

Mr Farron cut a ribbon and officially declared the show home open for viewing, bringing years of planning to fruition.

Cragg Close, off Rydal Road on the northeast side of Kendal, is a development of 94 homes. Half are affordable rent or shared ownership homes for local people. The development has been made possible through partnership working, with Russell Armer Homes, SLDC, Impact Housing and Cumbria LEP.

The development comprises properties of two to four-bedroom houses and a small number of one and two-bedroom apartments. All offer excellent value for money and reflect Russell Armer Homes’ commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Local people are already snapping up homes at Cragg Close thanks to its proximity to employment hubs, schools and supermarkets. Despite this convenient location, the development also opens out on to open fields, providing an attractive blend of town and country living and beautiful views over Kendal and out to the fells beyond.

Some new homebuyers to have already bought properties are using the government’s Help to Buy scheme, to get a foot on the property ladder. The first four homes to be released were sold within hours and the sales office had a queue of people waiting to put their name down.

Russell Armer Homes’ managing director, Martyn Nicholson, said: “We are delighted that Tim Farron MP opened our show home and that Cragg Close is proving such an attractive proposition for prospective home owners wishing to buy their first property, or move closer to Kendal.

“It is gratifying to see the huge popularity of Cragg Close given the planning and partnership working that has taken place to create this development.”
