Homes Fly Out Of The Door Thanks To Massive Demand In Kendal

Quality-driven Cumbrian home builder, Russell Armer Homes, is celebrating a hugely successful first day of sales at its new Cragg Close development in Kendal, where the first four homes to be released were sold within hours.

The scene at Cragg Close was similar to that of the first day of a shop sale, with people queuing from 8.30am to ensure they secured their home.

The sales office was so busy that the waiting prospective home owners had to be given a question and answer session in groups of ten at a time, as this was the only way the office could cope with the number of first time buyers wanting to get a foot on the property ladder and other keen-to-purchase home seekers.

Whilst it was known that the Cragg Close development, which is just off Rydal Road, had many draws, being close to schools and transport links and Kendal’s key employment clusters on one side and open countryside on the other, Russell Armer is still amazed by the strength of the desire to buy.

Russell Armer’s Martyn Nicholson says: “We are delighted by the instant response we have had following the release of the first homes at Cragg Close and now know who the first residents will be. Many more are lining themselves up for a property, which shows the shortage of affordable new quality homes in Kendal. Anyone else wishing to buy at Cragg Close should make enquiries very quickly.”

One of the new homes was bought by Kendal couple Charlotte Dent and Andrew Longcake, who have a four-year-old daughter, Chloe. Andrew works at local engineering company, Mardic, and the couple have been renting an existing Russell Armer Home in Kendal.

Charlotte says: “We have been able to buy a property thanks to the Government’s Help To Buy scheme, which has made a huge difference. Without it, we would not have been able to get a foot on the property ladder.

“We were impressed by the value-for-money that Russell Armer’s Cragg Close homes offer and the location is perfect. Having a garden and garage will also make a big difference to family life.”

The new development features 94 properties ranging in size from 2 to 4 bedroom houses and a small number of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. It is an elevated site offering views over Kendal and out to the fells and has thoughtful, ecology-focused landscaping and a real sense of place.
