How We Rallied Quiz Boffins To Raise £1240 For Charity

Posted on July 11, 2016 | Charity, News

Here at Russell Armer Homes we have continued to support two causes we know are close to the heart of our Cumbrian homeowners, by raising a whopping £1,240 to split between two charities we adopted some years ago.

These are MacMillan Cancer Support and The Great North Air Ambulance – who both do an amazing job in our tight-knit and rural Cumbrian communities.  Both charities received their cheques at our new OverSands View development in Grange-over-Sands, which comprises 42 two, three and four bedroom properties, which offer an idyllic estuary view over to Silverdale.

Our dedicated office manager, Elaine Goulding, presented the cheques to Sue Macdonald, representing MacMillan Cancer Support, and Bruce Evans, of The Great North Air Ambulance.

The £1240 was raised by staging the 15th Annual Russell Armer Homes Quiz Night, at Kendal Golf Club, on February 4.  Quiz teams from various professional and financial services’ companies competed against trivia boffins from a wide variety of other types of organisation, which included some of our suppliers.

In the end, it was first-time entrant, the Lake District National Park Authority, that swept to victory, to be crowned Russell Armer Homes Quiz Champions 2016.

Of the £1240 that entered the kitty, £225 came from donations by the 26 teams that participated, whilst the rest was raised by a raffle.

Our managing director, Martyn Nicholson, said: “Our charity quiz night seems to become more popular with each passing year and we are delighted to have now been able to stage this event for the fifteenth time. The money raised goes to two incredibly good and relevant causes, which we know our quiz entrants are pleased to support.

“Bringing 26 quiz teams together is no mean feat and our thanks goes to Elaine, who has, once again, been tireless in her efforts to make this important and now much-anticipated charity event happen.”
