The All England Open Stone Skimming Championships have attracted a 2014 headline sponsor, as Russell Armer Homes demonstrates its commitment to Lakeland life by supporting South Cumbria Rivers Trust, a charity involved with the conservation of the rivers, streams and lakes within South Cumbria.

The independent Cumbrian homebuilder, which has been established in Cumbria for more than 50 years, is supporting the stone skimming event, which enables ordinary people to get their names in official sporting record books.

The 2014 All England Open Stone Skimming Championships will take place at Fell Foot Park on Windermere, on Saturday August 16.  The sporting event will run all day, with categories for men, women, children and teams.  It will be supported by an array of activities organised by the National Trust, as it seeks to highlight 50 things to do before you’re 11 and ¾.

Russell Armer Homes is planning an array of special initiatives linked to the sponsorship in the weeks to come and will be helping to engage all age groups in the wonderful art of stone skimming.

Russell Armer Homes’ Managing Director, Martyn Nicholson, says: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the 2014 All England Stone Skimming Championships. This is an event at the heart of the Lakeland community, which has a synergy with our own business.  We build homes that enable owners to fully engage in life within the Cumbrian community, just as these open championships do.  Our homes are also built with much craftsmanship and attention to detail – exactly the skills required of an expert stone skimmer.”
