Russell Armer Homes are offering the Kendal & Lake District Homing Society - the pigeon racing club formed in 1885 - a temporary home, but help is needed to offer our local bird-lovers a more permanent gathering place.
The society have in recent years used the grounds of the Cock & Dolphin pub on Milnthorpe Road in Kendal as an area for meeting and the storage of equipment. However, the disused property has just been acquired by Russell Armer Homes for a development of stylish new homes
Thankfully, the Kendal-based building firm have kindly allowed the society to continue using the premises free of charge until the end of September, which sees them through the main pigeon racing season.
But after that the society will need to find a new location.
So, the plea goes out! Is there anyone out there who has premises large enough to house a small cabin but with room enough for car parking and to accept a large transporter on racing days.
Were looking for somewhere in or close to Kendal where we can store our basic equipment and meet before our races, says the Societys Chairman Roger Hillbeck. We prepared to pay any reasonable rent and wed ideally like somewhere with access to electricity and water.
